ADAS for class-8, signed for the long haul.
Tomco led functional safety, SOTIF, and UL 4600 evidence for a heavy-duty class-8 trucking ADAS program — perception, planning, and the cross-layer monitor under one signed evidence chain.
How the engagement ran.
The client's ADAS program targets class-8 over-the-road tractors operating at highway speed with trailer loads up to 80,000 lb. The combined system spans forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise, and a path toward higher-automation hub-to-hub operation. That scope required ISO 26262 for the platform, ISO 21448 (SOTIF) for the perception and planning loops, and a UL 4600 case structure to absorb the move toward driver-out operations.
Tomco embedded as the safety partner across the perception stack, the planner, and the cross-layer runtime monitor that bounds command authority based on platform state and environmental confidence. AFSPs co-signed every release; agents kept the SOTIF triggering-condition catalogue and the FMVSS 136 ESC evidence current across multiple powertrain variants.
The base ADAS feature set shipped across the line on schedule, with the safety case structured so each step up the autonomy ladder reuses the existing evidence chain rather than rebuilding it. The client's roadmap to higher automation now runs on this foundation.
